Rock Concerts and Crypto Mines

Question: What do rock concerts and crypto currency mines have in common?

Answer: They’re both extremely loud and can cause permanent noise induced hearing loss (NIHL).

The average rock concert is 100-120 decibels and a recent measurement in our mining facility was 93.8 decibels.

According to the National Institutes of Health, “Sounds of less than 75 decibels, even after long exposure, are unlikely to cause hearing loss. However, long or repeated exposure to sounds at or above 85 decibels can cause hearing loss. The louder the sound, the shorter the amount of time it takes for NIHL to happen.”

Now that doesn’t sound good at all, does it? What’s a crypto miner to do? Head to your neighborhood Lowe’s or Home Depot and grab some high-quality ear protection gear. While these bulky headsets probably won’t land you many dates—unless your goal is to hang out in a room full of mining rigs—they are by far your best defense against NIHL.
